I've never commented about my brother's death. You'd think a twin sister would.

It was unfortunate that Mark and I never bonded like so many twins do. We were so different...so polar opposite. That lack of a bond carried into our adult years. Even more unfortunate was the distance he maintained from our entire family...sad...so sad...despite many attempts to rekindle the relationships. They say it's a two-way street...in our case it was one-way...and he chose not to meet us half way.

Mark died of a heart attack, in his sleep, June 16, 2013. Ironic, that my career in clinical research revolved around supporting huge stem cell clinical trials for heart patients with no other options for feeling better and I am a huge advocate for heart health.

A close friend of his told me after Mark died that my he was going to live his life how he wanted and when he died, he hoped it would be in his sleep.

His wish was granted

His family's wish to rekindle was not...

Rest in Peace Brother...may we rekindle when I walk through the pearly gates.

Mary, That was beautifully said! I too share the pain of being separated against my will from those I love the most, and it is almost an unbearable pain. And however hard it may be to accept the choices people make, let us give thanks that we live in a country where the freedom to choose for ourselves what we want and what makes us happy is protected by our fellow brothers and sisters! RIP Mark!
